Knowledge workers are acutely aware of the challenges posed by information overload, perpetual connectivity, endless meetings, and clashing priorities. While we cannot free ourselves of these truths, we can implement strategies to alleviate the constant divergence and promote a workflow conducive to focused, flow states… Where problems are solved and creativity flourishes. This session will introduce the concept of personal knowledge management (PKM), and other strategies for information capture, organization, distillation, retrieval, and expression. The audience will be exposed to PKM approaches, note-taking methods, tools, and practices to help reduce overwhelm, achieve clarity, and learn to trust in a “Second Brain”. Through effective PKM, individuals can offload storage to a digital system and increase bandwidth of their biological brain to do what it does best… Think. While not technical GIS, this session is relevant for GIS professionals, leaders, and students at all levels.
